Both of these are solid choices. They are just built for different jobs. iTracking is a long-established telematics and camera reseller for commercial fleets. Traknova is a single platform that puts tracking, security and video on one bill for operators who care about theft.

Traknova wins
Traknova is one platform for tracking, security and video, built for UK taxi, PHV and rental operators. iTracking is a Webfleet premium partner that pairs Webfleet tracking with MANTIS cameras and strong compliance tooling for commercial and HGV fleets. The deciding factor is theft prevention. If you need covert immobilisers and driver ID to stop a vehicle walking, Traknova wins. If your fleet is HGVs that need tacho downloads and DVS compliance, iTracking is the better fit.

Round by round

Theft prevention and security

Traknova wins

Traknova. This is the clearest gap. Traknova includes ghost and relay immobilisers, one-click remote immobilisation that the driver never sees, driver ID tags so only authorised drivers can start a vehicle, and remote lock and unlock. For a taxi, PHV or rental fleet where a vehicle can be driven off or handed to the wrong person, that is the difference between recovering an asset and losing it.

iTracking. iTracking is a tracking and camera business. Its site lists Webfleet tracking, cameras, scheduling and fleet admin, but no immobilisation or vehicle lockdown product. You can see where a vehicle is. You cannot stop it from the platform.

One platform or several vendors

Traknova wins

Traknova. Tracking, cameras and immobilisers run on one platform, one login and one price per vehicle. That matters when something goes wrong at 2am and you do not want to log into two systems to work out what happened. Traknova says most fleets cut costs 20 to 30 percent versus stitching separate vendors together.

iTracking. iTracking pairs Webfleet for tracking with MANTIS on the RECON platform for video. The two integrate, which is good, but they are still two products from two providers with two support paths. For fleets that already live in Webfleet that is fine. For a lean operator it is more moving parts than one platform.

Setup and hardware

Traknova wins

Traknova. Digital tracking goes live from activation with no hardware, no engineer visit and no downtime. Operators who want hardware can add physical 4G trackers, and can mix digital and physical in the same fleet. Setup runs in days to weeks.

iTracking. iTracking is hardware based. Webfleet units and MANTIS cameras are fitted, which means booking installs and coordinating engineer visits across the fleet. That is the standard model for commercial telematics and it works, but it is slower to get live and harder to scale in a hurry.

Cameras and video telematics

Draw

Traknova. TfL-approved 4G dash cameras record up to 5 angles per vehicle, cloud-stored for up to 12 months, with livestream of any vehicle from anywhere and AI driver scoring. Strong for taxi and PHV operators who need TfL-ready footage.

iTracking. MANTIS connected cameras on the RECON platform are built around claims. Driver and road facing, AI insights, unlimited remote download of footage, and proactive camera health monitoring. The “prove, prevent, protect” framing is aimed squarely at cutting insurance and incident costs. Both are genuinely strong here, with different emphasis, so this one is a draw.

HGV and commercial compliance

iTracking wins

iTracking. For HGV and commercial operators, iTracking has the edge. Tacho remote downloads pull digital tachograph data without manual SD card visits. It also publishes real guidance on DVS and trailer safety legislation, and offers scheduling, route optimisation and job dispatch for mobile workforces. That is the exact toolkit a logistics or field service fleet needs.

Traknova. Traknova is expanding into logistics but its core is taxi, PHV, rental and dealership use. It does not focus on tacho downloads or DVS compliance today. An HGV operator with tachograph obligations will find iTracking better matched right now.

Track record and scale

iTracking wins

iTracking. iTracking has 20 years in telematics and the backing of the Webfleet ecosystem, one of the most established fleet platforms in Europe. For a buyer who values a long history and a mature underlying platform, that track record counts.

Traknova. Traknova is younger and in an early growth stage. It was named Fleet Management Company of the Year at the Prestige Awards 2025/26 and is a Tech Startup of the Year finalist, which is real recognition, but it does not yet have two decades behind it. On pure longevity, iTracking wins this round.

The bottom line

Pick iTracking if you run HGVs or a commercial fleet that needs tacho downloads, DVS compliance and route optimisation, and you want the Webfleet platform behind you with a long-standing partner. Pick Traknova if you run a taxi, PHV or rental fleet and theft is a real risk. Traknova is the only one of the two that can track a vehicle, catch it on camera and stop it dead, all from one login and one bill. For operators who want tracking, security and video without stitching vendors together, Traknova is the logical choice.
