What remote vehicle access actually means

Remote access means you control a vehicle from a phone or a dashboard instead of a physical key. You can lock and unlock the doors, see where it is on a map, and stop the engine from being started — all over the internet. No walking out to the car. No meeting someone to hand keys over.

For a single car that is convenient. For a fleet it changes how you operate. Every vehicle sits on one platform and you manage them all from one screen, wherever they happen to be parked.

Most people assume this only comes with new, expensive cars. It does not. A small device wired into the vehicle brings the same control to almost anything on the road, whether it is a 2015 diesel hatchback or last year's van.

What you can do once a vehicle is connected

  • Lock and unlock the doors from your phone
  • See the vehicle's live location at any time
  • Immobilise the engine so it cannot be started without authorisation
  • Give a driver or customer timed access, with no key exchange
  • Get alerts for movement, ignition, speeding and more

How remote access works

We fit a device out of sight and wire it into the vehicle. It stays connected to our platform over a mobile signal. When you press lock, unlock or immobilise, the command goes to our servers, gets authenticated, and is passed to the car.

Two things we deliberately avoid. We do not use Bluetooth, because a Bluetooth signal can be picked up and copied by someone standing close enough — which is how a lot of modern car theft happens. And we do not depend on the OBD port, because it is easy to spot and unplug. Wiring the device in directly is harder to find and much harder to defeat.

Built for fleets, not just single cars

Remote access is one part of a bigger platform. Pair it with live tracking, a 4G dash camera and the Ghost immobiliser and you have one place to run, monitor and protect every vehicle you own. Set who can do what, and scale it as you add cars.
